delays in the road construction projects with fuzzy methods.
Abstract:
This study represents a model to identify and manage the influencing factors
on road construction delays with Fuzzy method. Therefore, in this study,
while identifying 30 risks of the general risks in road construction delays, a
questionnaire has been prepared and distributed among road construction
experts in order to categorize so-called risks. Data gathering has been done in
2010. Moreover, this study introduces the lack of sufficient budget for the
project in the due time and the delay in paying the constructors as the most
important factors in road construction delays. Lack of financial capability of
constructors along with economic inflation and increase in prices are
respectively recognized as the other causes of road construction delays. The
Failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA)approach with Fuzzy method has
been applied to categorize the risks via two procedures: Fuzzy weighted
geometric average and Fuzzy weighted arithmetic average. In the end,
solutions are represented considering priorities and causes of delays, in order
to prevent future construction delays.
